Set within the world of global cybercrime, BLACKHAT follows furloughed convict Nicholas Hathaway (Chris Hemsworth), and his American and Chinese partners as they hunt a high-level cybercrime network from Chicago to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Jakarta. Chris Hemsworth is a fairly safe pair of hands and is quite believable in his role, and unlike many other such films this has full believability in terms of the way the events unfold and the actual cyber-theory itself. I would highly recommend this techno-action drama for every reason that you may enjoy a movie! Now in its 22 nd year, Black Hat USA is the world's leading information security event, providing attendees with the very latest in research, development and trends. Also, the film was overlong by at least 20 minutes, probably more like 40 minutes. For me the movie was only better. Some good quality night flying scenes to enjoy on the way to capturing the bad guys. Lots of action, and a highly intelligent plot. A bigger beef: the story structure makes it too easy to lose interest in the last 40 minutes or so of the film. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. This not a Brad Pitt movie - but still entertaing...

Only one bad language phrase - it could easily have been omitted. On reflection, a movie to watch on television or rent (as I did) rather than purchase. Blackhat is an action thriller, with Mann’s traditional heavy-artillery shoot-outs, on a notionally contemporary theme: computer hacking. Great stuff. I didn't enjoy Paranoia, and Swordfish was worse than useless. It *does* help to be able to turn on English subtitles to follow the dialog; some jargon is too difficult to follow via the audio, such as "the Feeb" that Chris Hemsworth says several times. It's nice to see his approach to filmmaking with a modern and topical story set on the world stage.Another excellent Michael Mann project.
